There's a difference between a superhero and a hero. Superheroes are fantasy. Heroes are real. And they're among us. But they're not defined by superpowers. It's their deeds that make them extraordinary.
The new comic book Doc Boston Adventures tells the story of a real African American hero leading a diverse team that saved lives.
Perfect for middle schoolers, Doc Boston Adventures promotes STEM, teamwork, problem solving, and shows that all of us can become heroes.
The comic book is wonderfully illustrated by Khoi Pham, with an inspiring story by George Whitehair, co-written by Heather Pham.
Chase and Penelope of European backgrounds; Ouli from Africa and Maya from South America; Sophal representing Asia; Murtuza, a Muslim of Arabic origin; and of course, Doc Boston's beloved St. Bernard, Tiny and one of his horses, Danny.
Dr. Frank Boston was a WWI Veteran, physician, and one of the first African Americans to start both a hospital and an ambulance corps in the United States. He was a highly admired humanitarian who served his country and his community. He received two presidential citations for his work.
Dr. Boston was forgotten by history... until now.
